Biography
2008-09: Webster earned all-America honors for the second time, leading the NCAA national championship for all four rounds before winding up third in a playoff. His 72-hole score was 290. He had six top-five finishes during the season, averaging a team-best 72.4 strokes per round. His low round of the season was a 65 at the Grand Canyon Thunderbird tournament.
2007-08: Webster averaged 73.5 strokes a round in 12 tournaments to finish as the team's No. 1 player. He shot back-to-back rounds of 69 at the 72-hole NCAA national championship and shot his low round of the year, a 67, at the NCAA West Regional tournament. He helped CSUSB finish second in the CCAA conference, fifth at regionals and 18th at nationals.
2006-07: Webster had a breakout season in his first year as a Coyote. The freshman won the NCAA West Regional medalist honors, shooting 69-66-67 -- 202, to beat a quality field in Colorado and helping CSUSB win the region team title. He then wound up 12th in the NCAA national championship with a 72-hole total of 296, capped by a closing round 69. He was named to the PING-NCAA Div. II all-America third team and the PING-NCAA West Region first team. He finished second in the CCAA championships with a 72-69-69 -- 210 score, helping his team finish second in the tournament, earning CCAA freshman of the year honors.He was named the Coyote Athletics co-Male Athlete of the Year along with Prentice Harris of basketball. He was the runnerup in the 2007 San Bernardino County Amateur with a 54-hole score of 210 and tied for seventh in the Long Beach City Amateur.
HIGH SCHOOL: Webster played four years of golf at Arroyo Valley High School where he won San Andreas League individual medalist honors three times. He finished third in the CIF Southern Section Tournament in 2005. He graduated in 2006.
PERSONAL: A business administration major, Webster's immediate goal is to qualify for the PGA tour.
He enjoys music, working out and playing basketball. He puts on junior golf clinics for Native American children. His parents are Gene Sr. and Marjorie Webster.
