BEFORE CAL STATE: Tate spent one year at the Air Force Academy and one year at Butte Junior College.
    
HIGH SCHOOL: He attended Poway High School and Francis Parker High School in Poway, graduating in 2006. He played on a CIF Div. I championship team at one school and on a Div. 4 title team at the other school.
    
PERSONAL: Tate is majoring in mechanical engineering with plans to reach the Major League level in baseball and eventually work for a successful engineering firm. Away from the diamond, he enjoys reading, playing other sports, working out, spending time with family. His parents are Charles and Corey Tate. He  has two siblings.
    
MOST MEMORABLE SPORTS MOMENT: Each event means just as much in terms of experience.
    
WHAT I WANT TO BE DOING IN FIVE YEARS: Playing Major League Baseball.
