The CSUSB women's soccer team had a spectacular weekend in Northern California, notching two impressive comeback victories. They started with a thrilling 2-1 win against the Otters and continued their dominance with another 2-1 triumph against the Gators. These victories have elevated the Yotes' conference record to 4-2-2, tying them for third place in the CCAA. Nathaly Losada Lucumi, Unieque Solis, and Kaylen Gonzalez were instrumental in these wins, contributing crucial goals to secure the Yotes' success.

THE YOTES DIG DEEP FOR A COMEBACK WIN AGAINST THE OTTERS

SEASIDE, Calif. – The CSUSB women's soccer team commenced their weekend on Friday with a remarkable 2-1 comeback victory against the Otters at Cardinale Stadium. This win boosted the Yotes' conference record to 3-2-2.

In the early minutes of the first half, the Otters asserted their dominance by deploying a new 3-5-2 formation. This formation demanded that the Yotes' wings play a dual role, both in offense and defense.

In the 8th minute, the Otters capitalized on their consistent pressure by scoring a goal, taking the lead with a score of 1-0.

The rest of the half was contentious, with the Yotes taking three shots compared to the Otters' nine. Neither team managed to find the back of the net before the halftime whistle, leaving the score at 1-0.

Perhaps Peters or one of the Yotes' captains delivered an inspiring halftime speech, as after the break, the Yotes seized complete control of the game.

In the 49th minute, the Yotes constructed an amazing goal, passing from their centerbacks to the center forward. Even the Otters' commentator acknowledged that the Yotes were "dancing around the Otters." Sam Smith received the ball in the midfield and linked up with Alyssa Rubio, who delivered a perfectly timed pass behind the Otters' defensive line. Nathaly Losada Lucumi received the ball and expertly struck it into the bottom right corner, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.

Solis would make her own magic in the 60th minute to put the Yotes up 2-1. The Yotes' high press pressured the Otters into passing the ball to their center back. After taking a heavy touch, Solis dispossessed the center back and dribbled toward the 18-yard box. Still outside the box, Solis unleashed a powerful shot into the upper left corner of the goal, with even the commentators calling it a "banger".

Nathaly Losada Lucumi now ranks No. 2 in the CCAA for goals, with a total of 7 this season. Uneique Solis has also secured a spot in the top ten for goals and game-winning goals, ranking No. 6 with 5 goals and 3 game-winning goals.

Leila Peregrina made 5 saves in the game.

The Yotes would end the game with a final score of 2-1.

THE YOTES COMPLETE ANOTHER COMEBACK AGAINST THE GATORS

SAN FRANSISCO, Calif. – The CSUSB women's soccer team continued their dominance in the northern region with another remarkable 2-1 comeback victory on Sunday against the Gators at Cox Stadium. This win elevated the Yotes' conference record to 4-2-2, tying them for third place in the conference.

From start to finish, the Yotes asserted themselves in the game. In the opening minutes, the Yotes took two shots, with Alyssa Rubio coming close in just the second minute.

Despite the Yotes' dominance, San Francisco's Michelle Pham managed to slip a shot into the goal, giving the Gators a 1-0 lead. The pressure on the Gators did not let up, with the Yotes taking seven shots in the first half and forcing three saves from the goalkeeper.

Going into halftime, the score read 1-0 to the Gators, but the Yotes had already shown that staging a second-half comeback was well within their capabilities.

The Yotes applied early pressure in the second half, with both Kaylen Gonzalez and Sam Smith creating good goal-scoring opportunities. It wouldn't be long before the Yotes found the back of the net.

In the 69th minute, Ayme Delgado started the play by evading a pressing Gator player and finding Kaylen Gonzalez on the wing. Kaylen Gonzalez outpaced her defender before looking up and delivering a precise pass to Nathaly Losada Lucumi's feet. Lucumi executed a Cruyff turn to evade her defender before smashing the ball into the back of the net.

With this goal, her second of the weekend, Lucumi now leads the CCAA in goals with a total of 8.

The Yotes seized complete control of the game in the 78th minute. Left-back Rebecca Cruz advanced with the ball before lifting it over the Gators' defense to a sprinting Kaylen Gonzalez. Gonzalez's speed left the defense trailing, resulting in a one-on-one opportunity with the goalkeeper, which she capitalized on by scoring near post. With this goal, the Yotes took a 2-1 lead with 10 minutes remaining.

Kaylen Gonzalez now boasts 4 goals and 3 assists this season, totaling 11 points overall.

The Yotes' defense and the overall defensive effort of the team effectively halted the Gators' attack for the remainder of the game. Leila Peregrina made 3 saves during the match, bringing her weekend total to 8 saves.

The Yotes concluded the game with a 2-1 victory.
