After being selected First Team All-CCAA for the first time in his career,
Kyle Csakan was voted First Team All-Region by the Conference Commissioner's Association (CCA) and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).
Â
The Outfielder and Utility player led the CCAA in home runs with 21, seeing his Yotes advance all the way to the CCAA Tournament Semifinals after their first tournament win in 20 years.
Â
"Being selected First Team All-Region means a lot to me," Csakan said. "There are a lot of great baseball players in the West Region so being recognized among the best is a huge honor. It is also a good feeling to have CSUSB Baseball next to my name. I've played my entire college career here so to be able to get the baseball program's name out there and on that list means a lot to me too."
Â
Csakan broke a 31-year-old school record with his 20th home run he hit on April 30th against Cal St. East Bay. Csakan also led the CCAA in slugging percentage at .756, was second in OPS at 1.165, and fifth in RBI at 54. He joined his former teammate Gabe Chavez on the First Team All-Region list, as he was selected in 2019, the last full season on the field for the Yotes prior to 2022.
Â
It was a breakout seasons for the Yotes as they recorded their best record in 10 years, advanced to the CCAA Tournament for the first time in six years, and won their first CCAA Tournament game in 20 years.Â
