The Yotes showed great teamwork and movement on the field for the entire match. It wasn't until three minutes remaining on the game that the Seawolves scored, taking the win, 1-0.
The defense in
Danielle Landrum Alaina O'Connell,
Rebekka Bogan,
Rebeca Cruz, and
McKenzie Cooper kept the Seawolves scoreless for the first half. Sonoma State would play intense defensive keeping the Yotes to only four shots on the game with two of them shots-on-goal.
Sonoma State would put pressure on the Yotes as they took 13 shots on the game with seven of them shots-on-goal.
Carly Luna finished the game with six saves. The Seawolves sealed the win with a goal in the 86
th minute, toppling CSUSB, 1-0.
"Today we gave the top team in the conference a huge scare with a performance we can be proud of" said coach
Mark Peters. "We pushed them all the way to the end and the result very nearly went in our favor. If we can match this performance moving forward it won't be long before the results start to follow."
