SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – CSUSB softball coach Jim Maier, with a desire to be closer to his family, has accepted the head coaching position at CSU Dominguez Hills, effective immediately.
"CSUSB Athletics thanks Jim for his time with us and the four years of progressive growth with the program," CSUSB Director of Athletics Shawn Farrell said. "The past two years have been fantastic. We support Jim's decision to be closer to his family. We are tremendously excited with the current direction of our softball program.
"We have an outstanding group of young women who are committed to being champions on the field and in the classroom," Farrell said. "They are a resilient group with excellent leadership. We are confident that we will find the right coach that will allow us to take the next step on our shared path to building a championship program."
Maier compiled a 128-90 record at the helm of the Coyotes while making the NCAA West Regional the last two years. Maier's return to Carson allows him to be closer to his wife Lori and sons Jared and Kyle.
CSUSB is conducting a national search that will begin right away and in the interim the current staff will continue leading the program.
