Box Score SAN BERNARDINO (Feb. 14, 2015) -- Isaiah Morton may not be the tallest Coyote, but the 5-foot-9 senior guard scored a game-high 20 points with 10 rebounds in CSUSB's 72-65 overtime victory over visiting Cal State Stanislaus on Saturday at Coussoulis Arena.
The double-double was the Brooklyn, N.Y., native's first of the season as he helped the Coyotes win for the fifth time in their last six games. The Coyotes, now 11-10 overall and 11-7 CCAA, are in a four-way tie for third place in the conference with Humboldt State, UC San Diego, and the Warriors.
Both teams did not shoot the ball well from the field with neither team hitting 40 percent. But CSUSB outscored the Warriors 22-11 at the free throw line, and 23-10 off turnovers for the seven-point victory.
CSUSB used a 20-4 run early in the game to lead by as many 13 wtih 13:06 remaining in the half.
Tyler Barber gave the Warriors their first lead of the second half on two free throws with 40 seconds left at 59-57.
The Coyotes then tied the game with their first points in nearly a five-minute span on a Tevin Harris dunk with 34 seconds left. CSUS had two chances to win the game, but missed on each to end regulation tied at 59-59.
In OT, Taylor Statham and Everett Turner scored on back-to-back layups and the Coyotes hit 7 of 9 free throws in the final 1:21 for the victory.
Morton finished with five assists and two steals in 43 minutes. Harris was 6 of 11 with seven free throws and eight rebounds. Turner was the only other Coyote in double figures with 12, along with seven rebounds and four assists.
Barber led the Warriors (14-9, 11-7) with 17 points.
Four games remain in the regular season and the Coyotes need one more win, and one more loss by both Cal State Monterey Bay and Sonoma State to clinch a berth in the conference tournament March 5-7 in Stockton.
The Coyotes are on the road next week with games at Cal State East Bay (Friday) and Cal State Monterey Bay (Saturday).
