Late rally costs Coyotes at WWPA

Junior Kayla Weller scored a goal for CSUSB in the second period against Cal State Monterey Bay.
LA JOLLA -- All-WWPA selection Alison Glaser and honorable mention choice Katie Braun were standouts Friday afternoon in the Coyotes' 10-8 loss to Cal State Monterey Bay in the WWPA Tourney opener.

Glaser and Braun each scored three goals apiece, but the Otters rallied with a four-goal fourth period to move on to Saturday's semifinals.

The Coyotes grabbed a 2-0 lead through one, thanks to a pair of goals from Braun. Each team scored five goals in the second period, but the Coyotes were outscored 5-1 in the second half.

Kayla Weller and Crystal Curran recorded the other two goals for CSUSB, now 3-23 overall.

Madison Morris earned the start at goalkeeper and had eight saves with five coming in the first period.
