Box Score LOS ANGELES – No. 14 Cal State San Bernardino proved the experts right when the Coyotes were selected to win the 2013-14 CCAA championship in the preseason coaches poll.

The Coyotes, behind the trio of Lacy Haddock, Kirby Gardner and Jordan Burris, played their usual solid brand of ball and disposed of host Cal State L.A. 80-69 at the Eagles Nest on Saturday night.

CSUSB captured the CCAA regular-season title outright and won it for the ninth time in school history and the fifth for coach Jeff Oliver in his 12-year tenure. They'll take the No. 1 seed into next week's CCAA Tournament at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario at 12 p.m. Friday against the winner of Cal State Stanislaus-Cal State L.A.

Haddock led the way for CSUSB (23-3, 20-2 CCAA) with 20 points, Gardner 19 and Burris 18 for the Coyotes, who shot 52.7 percent from the field, the 13th time in 26 games that they broke through the 50-percent level.

CSUSB, the NCAA West Region's top team in the last two regional polls, gained control with a pivotal run with 6 minutes left in the first half. CSUSB never trailed in the final half and led by double figures for the majority of the last 20 minutes.
