SAN BERNARDINO --
A 52-point first half capped by senior Theron Laudermill's four 3-pointers put the Coyotes in command as they went on to an 84-62 rout over visiting Cal State Monterey Bay in CCAA men's basketball Friday night.

The victory puts CSUSB (8-4 overall, 7-2 CCAA) in the conference lead, a half game over Cal Poly Pomona. The Ottters dropped to 2-10, 1-7.

Laudermill finished with 17 points on 6 of 8 field goals with the four 3-pointers. He entered the game with just one 3-pointer on the season.

The Coyotes trailed just once in the game and took control after CSUMB got to within a point -- 25-24 -- on James Thomas' three free throws with 10:01 left in the half.

Laudermill helped the Coyotes score eight straight points with a 3-point play and Nate Roth added a pair of free throws and a basket and CSUSB led, 32-24 with 8:55 left.

That spurt resulted in a 20-4 run and the Coyotes were never threatened again. They led 52-35 at the break and never let the lead get less than 17 in the second half.

The Coyotes established a multitude of season offensive highs including points in a first half, total points (84), FGs made (28), 3-point FG percentage (43.5 percent) and assists (18).

They also had a season-best 30 defensive rebounds.

Senior Tre Brewer had 12 points in 24 minutes and Matt Wallace had 11 points with three 3-pointers. All told, 12 of the 13 Coyotes dressed scored.

Not one Otter scored in double figures -- the second time this season the Coyotes accomplished that feat.

GAME NOTES: The victory was coach Jeff Oliver's 199th as the Coyotes' head coach. He owns a 199-75 overall mark and will look to earn his 200th victory Saturday night against Cal State East Bay.
