Student-Services: NCAA Life Skills Program

NCAA Life Skills Program
Challenging Athletes' Minds for Personal Success

Student-athletes are presented with many challenges in balancing academics and athletics. To meet these challenges, the NCAA developed the CHAMPS/Life Skills program to assist universities with the preparation of their student-athletes for life beyond collegiate athletics. The CHAMPS/Life Skills program bridges the gap between participating in intercollegiate athletics and experiencing campus life.

Academic Excellence
To support the academic progress of the student-athlete toward intellectual development and graduation.

Professional Development
To encourage the student-athlete to develop and pursue career and life goals.

Community Service
To engage the student-athlete in service to his or her campus and surrounding communities.

Personal Development
To support the development of a well-balanced lifestyle for student-athletes, encouraging emotional well-being, leadership, personal growth and decision-making skills.

Athletic Excellence
To build philosophical foundations for the development of athletic programs that are broad-based, equitable and dedicated to the well-being of the student-athlete.
