BREA -- Cal State San Bernardino's women's cross country team made an impressive 2010 debut with a 10th place finish out of 24 teams Saturday at the Cal State Fullerton Season Opener 6K run at Carbon Canyon Park.
The Coyotes were the top finishers among NCAA Div. II teams, with Cal State L.A. finishing 13th and Cal Poly Pomona winding up in 17th spot.
Sophomore
Rebekah Frazier finished 44th overall and first among Coyote runners in a time of 24:17.3 followed by junior transfer
Katherine Gomez (Riverside CC) in 46th spot in 24:20.5. CSUSB's No. 1 runner in 2009 -- sophomore
Samantha Borman -- finished 48th out of 219 runners in 24:25.4.
Rounding out the top five finishers for CSUSB were junior
Niki Chesnut, 68th in 25:10.7 and senior
Anjuli Nieto, 86th in 25:46.7.
UCLA won the team title with 29 points followed by Long Beach State (71), Cal State Fullerton (98), Loyola Marymount University (114). CSUSB finished with 292 points.
