SAN BERNARDINO — Cal State San Bernardino's Bryanna Burns couldn't have asked for a better year, outside of a few more wins, and capped it off by being named to the Associate of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches NCAA Division II first team after a stand-out season.
The junior goalkeeper for the women's water polo team was in the top 10 in the nation all year in saves and became the school's leader for career saves. She finished the year with 390 saves; the fourth most in a single-season in school history and that brought her career total to 1,141 saves. The previous school record was 1,140 set by Amanda Wells (2001-04) who now serves as the Coyotes' assistant coach.
Burns was one of seven to be named to the first team. UC San Diego and Cal State East Bay each had two named to the team while Sonoma State and Mercyhurst (Pa.) each had one.
