60th SoCal Intercollegiate Results
MISSION VIEJO — Consistency was the key for Cal State San Bernardino as the Coyotes shot a final round 311 to finish in third place at the 60th SoCal Intercollegiate played at the Mission Viejo Country Club.
The Coyotes, who were the defending tournament champion, finished 17 strokes behind Sonoma State who shot a 312 in the final round to bring its total score to 919. No. 12 St. Edward's finished at 929 and shot final round low 306.
Gene Webster Jr. closed the day with a 75 to move up to sixth in the individual standings with a 228 three-round total. Joe Alldis mirrored his first round 77 in the final round to shoot a combined 233, leaving him in a tie for 10th. Thomas Chu shot an 83 for a 239 total, finishing in a tie for 20th. Nick Kelley shot the lowest round he had all tournament with an 80 for an overall score of 243 which was just one stroke ahead of Kenny Anthony who fired a 79 in the last round. Kelly finished in a tie for 28th while Anthony closed in 31st. BK Kim also finished 54th with a 263 total score, playing as an individual.
Collin Mayer of St. Edward's held on to the one-stroke lead he had after round two to claim top prize. Mayer shot a final round 76, totaling a 220, just two strokes ahead of Cal State Dominguez Hill's Ryan Indovina who finished second. David McGregor of Post (Conn.) shot a 72 in the final round to sneak into third place.
CSUSB turns around and will play March 29-30 at the Grand Canyon Spring Invitational.
