CHICO – Patricia Cortez led the Coyotes on Saturday morning at the CCAA Championships, finishing 20^th in the 6,000-meter race held at Hooker Oak Park.
 
Cortez finished the race in 22 minutes, 54.8 seconds as the Coyotes finished eighth with 183 points.
 
Deserae Perez was 32^nd (23:17.8) and Rebekah Frazier 34^th in 23:20.7.
 
The Coyotes' top five included senior Jackeline Felix (51^st, 23:58.2) and Krystal Cota (56^th, 24:10.1).
 
CSUSB had 10 runners in the field. Alyssa Casillas was 59^th (24:17.7), Cynthia Rivera 62^nd (24:23.9), Susie Alcarez 63^rd (24:27.8), Karina Budovec 77^th (25:07.8) and Elizabeth Hernandez 84^th (25:22.7).
 
The Coyotes compete next Saturday at the NCAA West Regional in Spokane, Wash.
 
Host Chico State won the event with 29 points and Wildcats' Ayla Granados won the event in 22:10.9.
