Cal State San Bernardino's men's soccer team jumped from No. 25 in the pre-season poll to No. 10 in the nation among NCAA Division II teams following opening week victories over Saint Martin's (3-1) and Colorado State-Pueblo (3-0).
The Coyotes (2-0) will open California Collegiate Athletic Association play on Friday at Humboldt State, ranked No. 8 in the West Region poll after a 4-4 tie with Seattle Pacific and have a match scheduled on Sunday at Sonoma State (1-0), ranked No. 25 in the first national season poll.
The poll, released Tuesday, shows fellow CCAA member Cal State L.A. ranked No. 2 in the nation following its win over Biola while Cal State Dominguez Hills is ranked No. 19 off its 1-0-1 start.
The NSCAA regional poll lists the Coyotes at No. 2 behind Cal State L.A.
The women's NSCAA regional poll puts CSUSB (2-0 following wins over Biola and Grand Canyon) in the No. 5 spot behind No. 1 UC San Diego (2-0), No. 2 Cal State Dominguez Hills (2-0), No. 3 Seattle Pacific (1-0) and No. 4 Cal State L.A. (2-0).
The women's team opens up Friday at Humboldt State, which lost 3-0 to Seattle Pacific this past week and then plays at Sonoma State on Sunday. The Seawolves are ranked No. 9 in the region after a 2-1 win over Western Oregon.
