SAN DIEGO — Erik Ornelas, Ethan Chapman and Aaron Brooks were all named 2010 NCAA ABCA/Rawlings West Region Friday afternoon.
Ornelas, a junior from Anaheim, was named to the first team as a second baseman after leading the team with a .344 batting average and nine stolen bases on nine attempts. He also had six home runs and 41 RBIs.
Ethan Chapman, a freshman from Upland, and Aaron Brooks, a sophomore from San Bernardino, both were named to the second team as an outfielder and pitcher. Chapman led the team in nearly every category and nearly broke the school record for home runs in a single season with 14, just one shy of tying the record. Brooks went 6-0 in CCAA play, compiled a 4.43 ERA and struck out 71.
The Coyotes finished just one game short of 30 wins at 29-17. It was the most wins since 2004 and the first time CSUSB entered the postseason since 2005.
