SAN BERNARDINO — Cal State San Bernardino's women's soccer team wrapped up its spring season, going 2-1-1 against college level teams with wins over an NCAA Division II National Tournament participant and a Division I opponent.
The Coyotes opened the spring with 3-2 win over Dixie State, a team that reached the NCAA Division II West Regional. CSUSB also took on a pair of Big West Conference members, tying UC Riverside at 1-1 and downing Cal State Fullerton 3-2. The Coyotes also went 3-0 against club teams, defeating the Corona Eagles, Alliance FC and CZ Elite.
"We had a very solid spring season and were able to play against some very tough competition,” said CSUSB head coach Travis Clarke. “We played three games this spring against teams that play at a level we won't really see that often in division two. Our players adjusted well to the speed of play and were able to get several results that most people would not have expected. We have a lot of returning and experienced players all of whom are chomping at the bit to get the season started again in the fall".
Clarke also announced his team captains for the 2010 season. Sophomore keeper Tiffany Mallick, Senior defender/midfielder Jenna Sanchez and senior forward/midfielder Katie Liby were all selected as captains.
The Coyotes' 2010 schedule is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
