SAN BERNARDINO — Cal State San Bernardino opened its 2010 women's tennis season with an 8-1 loss to Cal Poly Pomona. Isabella Fraczek was the lone winner for the Coyotes, taking a 6-4, 1-6 (10-8) match away from Jennifer Chow at No. 3 singles.

The Broncos (4-1) took the other five singles matches and all three doubles matches from the Coyotes (0-1). Chrisie Lau defeated Brittany Choate (6-0, 6-0) at No. 1 singles while Jackie Trendt beat Christina Torres (6-0, 6-1) at No. 2 singles.

Mallory Brady won at No. 4 singles over Kara Jenkins (6-1, 6-0) and Kaitlin Wooldridge won at No. 5 singles (6-1, 6-0) against Janay Palicte.

CSUSB's Allison Brooks pushed Fallon Blattner in the second set after falling 6-2 in the first, but Winkler pulled out a 6-4 win in the final set.

In doubles, Trendt and Chow made quick work of Jenkins and Choate (8-1) at No. 1 while Brady and Jessica Winkler dispelled Fraczek and Brooks at No. 3 (8-3). The closest match in doubles was at No. 2 as Lau and Wooldridge edged Torres and Palicte (8-6).

The Coyotes are scheduled to play Cal Sate Stanislaus, Saturday at 11 a.m., but that match could be rescheduled due to expected rains.
