Coyotes finish 16th in Fullerton meet

Freshman Samantha Borman is top CSUSB finisher in 6K at golf course

Samantha Borman was the first CSUSB runner to finish at the Fullerton Season Opener 6k Saturday night.

    FULLERTON -- Cal State San Bernardino's women's cross country team finished 16th in a 26-team field at Saturday's Season Opener meet hosted by Cal State Fullerton at Fullerton Golf Course.
   The Coyotes finished third among CCAA schools. Cal Poly Pomona was 11th and Cal State L.A. was 12th. Cal State Dominguez Hills was 25th. Azusa Pacific took the team title with 53 points.
    Freshman Samantha Borman of Redlands led all CSUSB runners into the finish chute, winding up 57th in a field of more than 260 runners with a time of 24:42.6.
    Rebekah Frazier, a freshman from San Bernardino, was next in 103rd spot in 25:52.7. Angelica Lopez was 111th in 26:01.1. Freshman Deserae Perez was the fourth Coyote into the finish area, winding up 118th in 26:09.1. Sophomore Niki Chesnut, the team's leading runner in 2008, was the fifth CSUSB runner in the 123rd position in 26:19.4.
    Senior Shawna Alvarez who was timed in 26:57.8, good for 152nd place.
