Unity Beddingfield scored goals Saturday as Cal State San Bernardino's women's soccer team defeated Montana State-Billings, 2-1, at Dixie State College.
The victory, the first at CSUSB for first-year Head Coach
Travis Clarke, evened the team's record at 1-1. The Coyotes lost 1-0 to Dixie State on Thursday.
Salas put the Coyotes up 1-0 just 2:43 into the match off an assist by senior defender
Lisa Montgomery. That lead continued through the end of the first half.
The Coyotes increased the lead to 2-0 in the 51st minute as Beddingfield took advantage of a loose ball in the box after corner kick and knocked it home.
The Yellowjackets responded with a goal in the 58th minute by Jaucelyn Richter, assisted by Samantha Sandau to make it 2-1.
CSUSB had other opportunities to score in the second half. A shot by freshman
Lindsey Witz was saved by the 'Jackets' goalie Jordan Fenwick in the 57th minute. Junior
Ashley Haagsma's try in the 71st minute was again saved by Fenwick. A shot by sophomore
Jaclyn Clark at 87:54 hit the post and caromed away. Fenwick stopped another shot by Beddingfield at 88:15.
A last minute try by Richter to get the equalizer at 88:44 went wide of the goal.
