3 Coyotes earn all-CCAA honors

Salas voted to first team; Clark, K. Gomez also recognized

Ashley Salas, a Coyotes co-captain, was voted to the All-CCAA first team by the conference coaches.
Senior defender Ashley "Salsa" Salas was voted to the all-California Collegiate Athletic Association first-team, one of three members of the Cal State San Bernardino women's soccer team to be selected for all conference honors by the CCAA coaches.
Salas, a Rancho Cucamonga resident who prepped at Etiwanda HS,  completed her fourth season with the Coyotes by scoring two goals and earning a reputation as the team's top defender throughout the season, helping resurrect a program that won just one match in her freshman season to go 20-13-7 over her final two seasons.
The Coyotes finished 2009 with a 10-8-2 record, 9-5-2 in the CCAA -- the most conference wins in the history of the program.
Sophomore Jaclyn Clark, a Fontana resident and Los Osos HS graduate,  earned second-team honors with her aggressive midfield play. Clark scored three goals this season for CSUSB.
Sophomore Kristina Gomez of Highland (Arrowhead Christian Academy) led the team in scoring with eight goals in 2009. Five of her goals were match-winning scores. She earned honorable mention in a very competitive conference in which nine wins were not good enough to earn the team a berth in the CCAA tournament or the NCAA West Regional.
Liz Franco of Cal State L.A. was the offensive MVP while Amanda Matthews of Cal State L.A. was the defensive MVP. Jessica Wi and  and Ann Marie Tangorra of Cal State L.A. shared freshman of the year honors. Britney Vance of Cal State Dominguez Hills was voted newcomer of the year. Chris Chamides was voted coach of the year.
