Tuesday was not a routine practice day for Cal State San Bernardino's women's volleyball team.
The Coyotes filed into The Den, the campus gymnasium utilized for practice but little else, they were surprised by the appearance of CCAA conference Commissionere Robert J. Hiegert.
Hiegert came bearing gifts -- rewards if you to be mindful of NCAA rules on gifts -- a huge CCAA conference championship banner for 2009 and CCAA champion t-shirts for all the players.
The Coyotes achieved their fourth-straight CCAA title last Saturday, finishing the season 21-1 in conference play, most-ever since CSUSB joined the CCAA in 1991-92. Overall, the Coyotes are 29-1, setting a new record for regular season victories.
The team took time out for a group photo wearing the fruits of victory, then got back to work to get ready to play Seattle Pacific of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference at 7:30 p.m. Thursday night in the same gym.
