SIMI VALLEY -- Sophomore Bryan Kim shot a career best five-under 67 and senior Joe Alldis shot 69 Monday as Cal State San Bernardino rebounded from a poor showing at Sonoma State's tournament to place eighth in a 17-team field after two rounds of the Bill Cullum Invitational at Wood Ranch Golf Club.
Kim and senior all-American Gene Webster Jr. tied for 12th place after the first 36 holes at 143, one under par. Kim posted two eagles during his two rounds while Alldis had one. Kim was three-under par on the par-4s. Webster had 11 birdies in his two rounds.
Alldis followed his first-round three-under score with an 83 to wind up in a tie for 54th place while Nick Kelley shot 75-81--156 for 73rd spot.
Senior Thomas Chu played well enough in the morning round with three-over 75, but withdrew from the second round.
CSUSB shot a 36-hole team total of 593, 17 over par but the seven teams ahead of them are all NCAA Division I schools, led by University of the Pacific whose golfers were 16 under par for the day led by Alex Johnson with a two-round total of 66-68-134, 10 under par.
The tournament concludes Tuesday with a final 18 holes.
