Members of the Cal State San Bernardino women's soccer team raised over $1,700 this past weekend at a team-sponsored car wash to help meet the costs of operating the program.
The car wash, conducted at Jiffy Lube on University Parkway, drew several vehicles from the San Bernardino Fire Department.
"I felt the event went great," said Head Coach
Travis Clarke. "We had freshman
Allison Pena organize the entire (day) and she did very well and was quite organized."
Beyond the money raised, Clarke said the event had other benefits.
"Not only did we hold a fundraiser for our team but we were able to develop some leadership and organizational skills among several of our younger players that put this event together for us," Clarke said.
The car wash was conducted on Saturday after the team tied Chico State on Friday and before the team defeated Cal State Stanislaus on Sunday.
