Coyotes finish 11th at UCSD XC meet

Freshman Nikki Chestnut is top finisher for CSUSB in 6K Tritons Classic

Anjuli Nieto finished 58th among 126 runners at UCSD meet.
   LA JOLLA – Cal State San Bernardino's women's cross country team found the competition to be tough Saturday, finishing 11th among 14 teams in the UC San Diego Tritons Cross Country Classic. 
    CSUSB finished fifth among NCAA Division II teams in the meet.
    The Coyotes top finisher – freshman Nikki Chesnut – finished 53rd in 24:46.6 for 6,000 meters. Teammate Anjuli Nieto as 58th in 24:58.1 followed by senior Kari Brandt (65th in 25:13.0) and senior Kristen Torres (66th in 25:13.5). The fifth Coyote runner to the finish was Alena Mohd-Yusof, 76th in 25:34.6. 
    Jessica Pixler of Seattle Pacific was the winner in 21:12.3 while Alaska-Anchorage won the team title with 87 points, finishing 19 points ahead of the host Tritons. Cal Poly Pomona was fifth with 190 points and Cal State Stanislaus was ninth with 274 points. 
    The Coyotes will have a bye week, then host the 2008 California Collegiate Athletic Association championship for women and men on Saturday, Oct. 25, at Glen Helen Regional Park in Devore. The women's 6K race is set for 9 a.m. and the men's 8K race follows at 9:45 a.m.
